I got back from my morning run just in time before the downpour. I was observing the environmental system as I was planning my run route this morning, thankful for the system awareness and my running pace timing was perfect.
Timing is super important in our lives. Everything flows smoothly and feels awesome when things happen at the right time. But when the timing is off, even good ideas or intentions can flop and make us feel down. It's smart to pay attention to what's happening around us to decide if the timing is good for what we want or plan to do. This insight works for everything in life and at work.
AND, sometimes, we have to do things even if the timing isn't perfect. Like if there's an emergency, we can't wait for the ideal time. Or if we miss the opportunity, it's unlikely the door will be opened for us again. Sometimes we do things at the wrong time to test the system and learn from it. The key considerations are context, intention and your judgment call. When we don't succeed, we learn and adapt quickly. There is no failure in life, only lessons.
Remember 3 things about timing:
First, "Feel the Moment" – notice when things are going well and jump in.
Second, "Be Patient" – don't rush into things. Wait for the right time.
Lastly, "Change Smartly" – if the time isn't right, find a clever way to make it work or adapt and learn quickly.
Timing is a big deal; using it wisely can make a big difference in our lives.
Powerful Questions:
1. What are you currently working on that is important?
2. Have you assessed the context?
3. Is the system ready? (timing)
4. If not, what must happen first?
5. What's within your control?
p/s: By the time I'm done writing this post, the rain stopped - perfect timing to do my warm-down in the refreshed morning.
