Reflections from Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience Singapore.

I spent a wonderful evening with my ladies at Resorts World Sentosa, immersed in a 360º multi-sensorial exhibition of more than 300 artworks by renowned artist Vincent Van Gogh. I enjoyed my time learning about Vincent Van Gogh and his famous paintings. Reflected much about his life, his thoughts and his art. Below are some of his famous quotes that resonated with me,

"If you hear a voice within you say you cannot paint, then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.”

“Close friends are truly life’s treasures. Sometimes they know us better than we know ourselves. With gentle honesty, they are there to guide and support us, to share our laughter and our tears. Their presence reminds us that we are never really alone.”

“The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reason for remaining ashore.”

“Great things are not done by impulse but by a series of small things brought together. And great things are not something accidental but must certainly be willed.”

“The beginning is perhaps more difficult than anything else, but keep heart; it will turn out all right.”

“I dream my painting, and I paint my dream.”

My 8 Key Takeaways after this exhibition,

  1. Find something that makes you feel most alive and make it a foundation for your daily life. Be purpose-driven and go for fulfilment (intrinsic motivation) instead of extrinsic ones.

  2. The quality of your relationships determines the quality of your life. So pay attention to the relationships around you.

  3. Keep pushing yourself to try new things to broaden your range. The greater your range, the more possibilities in your life will expand!

  4. Beat your inner negative thoughts through action. After committing to something, take the courage to take the first step. Courage is 'Fear Walking.' Feed your courage, not your excuse. It is not about the first BIG step. It is about taking small steps consistently over time.

  5. Always be yourself. Be authentic and have your voice expressed. But be careful not to be attached to your voice because 'We are all correct, partially'. Be open to other views and know your place, when to exert your voice and when not to.

  6. Slow down in nature and set aside time to reflect or contemplate. When we slow down, we tend to notice and learn new insights.

  7. Love and work from your heart. Find joy in everything you do.

  8. Finally, and most importantly, don't stop dreaming. Dream up your painting, and go paint it!

Take what is helpful or resonating with you. Love, Lead and Learn Life!
